This piece was inspired by a trip to York, where the landscape felt like it was telling its own quiet story. The rolling fields, patchwork of colours, and charming houses on the hill all seemed to come together in a peaceful harmony. I wanted to capture that feeling of standing still, watching the world stretch out in front of me, and noticing the simple beauty in the everyday. The figures in the painting reflect that shared sense of calm, taking in the scenery as if time has slowed just for a moment.
