About Laylart Studio
Who is the artist behind Laylart Studio?
I'm Layla Khani, an artist and printmaker based in Malvern, Worcestershire. I grew up in Tehran in an artistic family surrounded by music, poetry and stories, and later studied Art & Design and Visual Communication in the UK.
Today I work from my home studio near the Malvern Hills, creating original linocut prints, paintings, collages and art-led paper goods inspired by landscape, colour and the changing seasons.
Where is Laylart Studio based?
Laylart Studio is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, close to the Malvern Hills. Much of my work begins with the landscape around me: hills, fields, cottages, trees, wildflowers and the colours that change through the seasons.
What inspires your artwork?
Landscape is a large part of my inspiration, particularly the Malvern Hills and the Worcestershire countryside, but my work is also shaped by where I grew up.
My childhood in Tehran was filled with music, poetry, stories and colour, and discovering the ancient carvings at Persepolis had a lasting influence on the way I thought about making images and telling stories.
Since moving to Malvern, those influences have become intertwined with the British landscape. Colour is especially important to me, and I often notice a place through its colours before anything else.

Original Linocut Prints
Are your linocut prints originals or reproductions?
My original linocut prints are hand-printed directly from lino blocks that I carve by hand in my studio. They are not digital or photographic reproductions of another artwork.
Most are produced as small limited editions, with each impression individually printed, signed, titled and numbered by hand.
What is a reduction linocut?
A reduction linocut is created from a single lino block. I print one colour, carve more of the block away, print the next colour and continue the process layer by layer.
Because more of the block is carved away at every stage, once the edition is complete the full image cannot simply be printed again. You can see how I create a reduction linocut step by step on my Printmaking Process page.
Are your original linocut prints limited editions?
Yes. Each edition is fixed, and every print is signed, titled and numbered by hand. Edition sizes vary between artworks and are shown on the individual product page.
Why might my print look slightly different from the photograph?
Every original linocut is individually printed by hand, so there may be small variations in ink, texture and impression. These are a natural part of the printmaking process and help make each impression unique.
What paper do you use for your original linocut prints?
My original linocut prints are printed on Arches 88 300gsm printmaking paper. The exact paper, image dimensions and overall paper size are included on each artwork's product page.
What is the difference between an original linocut and a giclée print?
An original linocut is printed by hand directly from a carved lino block and forms part of a limited printmaking edition.
A giclée print is a high-quality reproduction of an existing original artwork. Both allow you to own my work, but the way they are produced is different.

Framing & Choosing Artwork
Do original prints come framed?
Most original prints are sold unframed unless stated otherwise on the individual product page. Framing suggestions are included to help you choose a suitable frame and mount.
Some other artworks may be available framed, so please check the individual product description before ordering.
Can you help me choose a frame?
Yes. I include framing suggestions on many artwork pages, including suitable frame and mount sizes where appropriate. If you'd like more detailed advice, you can read my guide to framing a linocut print, including mounts, frame colours, glazing and choosing the right size.
How do I choose the right size artwork for my space?
Each artwork page includes dimensions, and many also show the work framed or displayed in an interior to help give you a sense of scale.
Smaller prints work particularly well on shelves, smaller walls or as part of a gallery wall, while larger pieces can work beautifully as a focal point. If you're unsure about a particular artwork, I'm happy to help.
Greeting Cards, Calendars & Gifts
Are your greeting cards based on your own artwork?
Yes. Laylart Studio greeting cards feature artwork from my original linocut prints and paintings. They are blank inside for your own message and include an envelope.
Can I choose individual greeting cards?
Yes. Individual designs are available so you can choose your favourites and create your own combination. Selected ready-made card collections are also available.
What types of art calendars do you make?
Laylart Studio calendars feature my own original artwork, inspired by the British landscape, the Malvern Hills and the changing seasons. The collection includes annual wall and desk calendars, as well as perpetual birthday calendarsdesigned for keeping track of birthdays and special dates year after year.
What calendar formats are available?
Annual art calendars are available in a selection of wall and desk formats, with sizes and designs varying between collections. Perpetual birthday calendars are also available and can be reused every year.

Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Laylart Studio digital gift cards can be used across the online shop, including original art, prints, greeting cards and calendars.
Gift cards are delivered by email and can include a personal message, making them useful when you'd like someone to choose their own artwork.
Can I send an order directly as a gift?
Yes. You can have your order delivered directly to the recipient. If you need something specific included or omitted from the parcel, please contact me when ordering and I'll do my best to help.
Ordering & Delivery
How quickly will my order be dispatched?
Most in-stock artwork, greeting cards and calendars are dispatched within 1 to 3 working days. If an item has a different dispatch time, this will be stated on its product page.
How is artwork packaged?
Artwork is carefully protected for its journey, with packaging chosen according to the size and type of item. Original prints are securely packaged to help keep them flat and protected during delivery.
Do you deliver throughout the UK?
Yes. Laylart Studio is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, and orders can be delivered throughout the UK. Available delivery options and charges are shown at checkout.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, I ship to selected international destinations. Available delivery services and the current shipping cost are shown at checkout once you enter your delivery address.
Do you ship artwork and gifts to the USA?
Yes. I ship Laylart Studio orders to the USA using Royal Mail Postal Delivery Duties Paid (PDDP) services. Any applicable customs duties are prepaid, so you won't be asked to pay additional customs charges when your order is delivered.

How much does delivery cost?
Delivery costs depend on the destination, size and weight of your order. The available delivery options and exact charge are calculated at checkout before you pay.
Returns & Order Problems
Can I return an order?
Eligible items can be returned within 30 days, provided they are unused, in their original condition and returned in their original packaging.
Some items, including gift cards, sale items and customised items, cannot be returned. Please read the full Refund Policy before returning an order or contact me if you're unsure.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact me as soon as possible if your order arrives damaged or there is a problem with it. Include your order details and photographs of the damage where possible so I can help resolve it.
Who pays for return postage?
Unless an item is faulty or there has been an error with your order, return postage is normally the customer's responsibility. Please see the Refund Policy for full details or contact me before returning an item if you're unsure.
Visiting Laylart Studio & Keeping in Touch
Can I visit Laylart Studio or see your artwork in person?
A selection of my artwork is permanently on display at House of Fires in Malvern, where you can see and buy my work in person.
I also take part in Worcestershire Open Studios, as well as selected exhibitions and events throughout the year. Details of upcoming events and exhibitions are announced on my website, Instagram and through the Studio Circle.

How can I hear about new original prints and collections?
Join the Studio Circle to hear about new original prints, collections, calendars, studio news and selected events. New work and limited editions are released throughout the year.
Do you offer wholesale greeting cards?
Yes. Laylart Studio greeting cards featuring my original artwork are available to selected independent shops and stockists. Retailers can apply through the Wholesale Enquiry page with details of their business.
