April has a particular quality to it. The landscape is fully awake but still fresh, the greens almost impossibly vivid, and then the poppies arrive at the edges of the fields - small bursts of red against all that green and grey.
This is that moment. The fields striped and orderly, the farmhouses settled into the hillside, and at the front of it all, the wildflowers doing exactly as they please.
